Hello and welcome CTA Goodman families! My name is Amanda Tietjen, and I am the School Counselor and Special Education Case Manager here at CTA Goodman. For me, it is an honor and privilege to be serving as a School Counselor in our premier district, where I have the opportunity to assist students, parents, and staff.
My Education and Professional Background
I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Arizona State University in 2004. Six months later I started my Master's Degree program and received my Master's Degree in Counseling in 2009. I began my teaching career in the Madison School District, where I taught first grade for a year and a half. My career in the Chandler Unified School district began in 2006. I taught first grade here at CTA Goodman Elementary School for 9 years, and am now our school's Counselor and Special Education Case Manager.
My Educational Philosophy
I believe that each child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. It is my desire as a educator to help students meet their fullest potential in these areas by providing an environment that is safe, supports risk-taking, and invites a sharing of ideas. There are three elements that I believe are conducive to establishing such an environment, the teacher acting as a guide, allowing the child's natural curiosity to direct his/her learning, and promoting respect for all things and all people.
