Congratulations to our own Mrs. Plimley! Mrs. Plimley learned that she was nominated for the Gilder Lehrman National History Teacher of the Year Award! The History Teacher of the Year Award highlights the crucial importance of history education by honoring exceptional American history teachers from elementary school through high school. The award honors one exceptional K-12 teacher from each state, the District of Columbia, Department of Defense schools and US Territories. We certainly wish Mrs. Plimley the best of luck and congratulate her on this outstanding honor and recognition!!

Calling all performers, families and friends! Your Open Mic Club is inviting you to watch or participate in Friday Night Live, the annual Variety Show coming up this quarter! What is a Variety Show, you might ask? A Variety Show is like a school-wide talent show, complete with every kind of performance you could imagine! Singing, dancing, acting, miming, bird calling, joke-telling, poetry-reading, you name it! Anyone wishing to perform in the Variety Show must pick up an audition packet in the office and bring it with them on audition day, which is on Friday, January 27th from 3:00-5:00 in the cafeteria. Dress rehearsals will be on Thursday, February 2nd from 3:00-5:00 and the big show will be on Friday, February 3rd from 6:00-8:00 pm! The show will be open to any and all who wish to see it for no charge! We hope to see all you performers out there at auditions and the rest of you at the show!

All In! 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk

Congratulations to the high school wrestling team for an outstanding performance at the Dysart Demon Classic over the weekend!  The knights finished the portion with a record of 4 & 2 and 7 individuals earned medals in the weight class!

Joseph Maddox – 5th place, Davoren Bishop – 4th place, Rida Shiban – 6th place, Korosh Eshani – 2nd place, Danny Estrada – 4th place, Jad Mazboudi – 3rd place, Yousuf Halik – 3rd place.

The Lady Knights Soccer team won 4-2 against Phoenix Country Day School on Friday the 13th.  The game was tied at the half 1-1 but the Knights came out shooting in the 2nd and took the lead on a shot from Koko Matsumoto 15 seconds in.  It was Koko’s 2nd goal of the evening.  Natalie Pencek also added 2 more goals in the 2nd half.  It was senior night and the girls were determined to win for the 4 seniors on the team.  Great job ladies!  Come out tonight at 6:00pm as they go for their 4th straight victory against Horizon Honors.

Congratulations to the varsity pom team as they finished as the 10th best 3A pom team in the state this past week in the AIA competition!  Great way to kick off our 1st ever pom team!

Attention students:  Today is Club & Activity pictures day.  In addition, those of you enrolled in band or orchestra will also get pictures taken.  All pictures will be taken in the gym and it is the students’ responsibility to get to your scheduled pictures on time. There will be no announcements made.  If students need to change clothes before the pictures please leave a few minutes early as to keep the picture schedule on track.  Make up pictures for clubs will not be offered so it is critical that you arrive at your club’s assigned time.

Attention High School Students! This weekend, over 700 students will be taking the placement assessment to be considered for enrollment for the upcoming school year.  We are in need of 30 high school students to assist with Saturday’s assessment from 7:00 am – 12:00 noon.  The assessment will be held at ACP Oakland.  If you are available to assist for the entire time please come to the office by the end of the day TODAY and give your name to Mrs. Zimmerman. Service hours will be provided for your assistance.  Thank you in advance for your help!

Tuesday, January 24th at 6:30pm, Duke University will be presenting Demystifying the College Admissions Process for Highly Selective Colleges at Chandler Center of the Arts.  This is a 60-minute seminar for high school 9th, 10th, and 11th graders and their parents.
